Where better to start our blogs than here, where I am sitting now, Rossnowlagh Beach. Ros Neamlack, in Irish, that translates to mean Heavenly Headland, and that it certainly is!
Rossnowlagh has so much going for it, in terms of nature you can do it all, Surfing (obviously), countless walking routes encompassing spectacular backdrops, fantastic sea fishing & snorkelling, cliff jumping, sailing,.. If you are an Ocean & Nature lover Rossnowlagh really does has it all!
It’s quaint place in the winter, that’s when you really get the true essence of the beauty of Rossnowlagh, but in the summer it shines bright, the place comes alive, as everyone returns for a summer of fun like in the video below.
Paddle boarding with Dolphins during the summer -“Livin’ the dream” in Rossnowlagh!!
Rossnowlagh is one of Ireland’s and Europe’s best Blue Flag surfing beaches. As the slowly rising beach faces westward into the Atlantic Ocean, and the fact that Donegal Bay has a funnel-like shape, it can increase the size of the waves, especially in winter when some huge waves are generated.
Rossnowlagh has good safe facilities and has excellent water quality. Rossnowlagh usually has a crew of around 6 lifeguards patrolling the bay, when they are in operation during the summer season, they’re great!
Rossnowlagh Beach is a beacon of waves for the North West coast offering up a constant energy and swell throughout the year. In the height of the winter the waves can reach 8+ foot , however in spring, summer and autumn the beach boasts dreamy a-frame rollers, from 1-4 foot, absolutely perfect waves for learning how to surf, or cruising your worries away, What are you waiting on?
